• SPF 50+  – as Australians we are subject to some of the most intense UVA/UVB radiation in the world and our governmental guidelines around sun protection aren’t clear.  50+ refers to any item that is rated above 60 SPF, as tested by the TGA – the concern with correctly labelling higher SPF’s is that the TGA wish not to imply that you don’t need to worry about the sun when you’re wearing an SPF 100 item or sunscreen, because, at the end of the day the difference between 50 SPF and 100 SPF 1% difference in UVA/UVB reduction.
